Your appearance can also reveal a lot about you, whether you’re aware of it or not. From your sense of style to the way you wear your hair, the attention to detail and effort you put into how you look can be revealing. But what about your smile? Believe it or not, the condition of your teeth can also be very telling. Here’s a closer look at four traits your mouth may have, and what they tell others about you and your life!
Feminine / Masculine
The teeth on either side of your two front teeth are known as the lateral incisors, and according to some, can reveal whether a person is more masculine or feminine. The theory is that if these teeth are longer and more square-shaped, your personality may be a bit more manly, while those with rounder, shorter teeth are inherently more feminine!
Stressful / Peaceful
Do you grind your teeth? While you may not even be consciously aware you’re doing it (or do it in your sleep), it certainly can be noticeable to others. If your pearly whites are exhibiting signs of excessive wear, it could be showing those around you that you’re perpetually stressed. It’s also a good reason to visit your dentist to discuss a custom bite guard to protect your smile from further damage and help alleviate any jaw strain or tension that may result from grinding.
Passive / Aggressive
You know those sharp, longer teeth in the front of your mouth? Those are your canines, and the theory is that when yours are big and sharp, you may also have a more aggressive personality. Conversely, those whose are more rounded or flattened can be seen as more passive!
Wild / Mild
For some people, smoking and drinking alcohol is a social lubricant that makes it easier to relax and have fun during an evening out. However, if you partake in these habits too frequently, they can take a noticeable toll on your smile, usually in the form of deep dental stains and discoloration. If your ‘wild child’ personality is catching up with your teeth, talk to your dentist today about your teeth whitening options.
Remember, while it’s never a good idea to judge someone based on their teeth, there’s no denying that the condition of your smile can say a lot more about you than you think. Thus, to prevent misconceptions, convey an air of confidence, and promote a healthy, gorgeous grin that lasts a lifetime, stay on top of your oral health and visit your dentist every six months for your regular checkups and cleanings!
